Welcome to Yaiab.com
What does the word "Yaiab" mean? Well, it's actually an acronym for "Your ass is a banjo". What does "Your ass is a banjo" mean? That my friends is a story in itself. Read on...
Way back, when I was just a youngster, my older brother (and mentor in many ways) and I were having a discussion. I stated something to him that I thought was a fact. Well, as it turns out, it wasn't a fact at all. My brother, knowing this, just turned to me and said with a smirk "Your ass is a banjo".
Now being all of 9 or ten years old, this phrase didn't make much sense to me. As I grew older and started to appreciate the meaning of sarcasm and what idioms were, I found the phrase's meaning becoming more and more clear to me and started to use it more frequently.
It's meaning is simple. It's like saying "when pigs fly", "the check is in the mail", or "I have a bridge I want to sell you".
Fast forward to the present. I am a big sports fan and have always listened to sportstalk radio, sports television, etc. Many times I have heard one of the announcers, radio talents, or other sport's "experts" make a claim or statement about something they thought would come to fruition, such as a trade or how they thought a rookie would turn out to be superstar. Predictions of a teams record or how many home runs someone would hit. After hearing these predictions, I always wondered which ones they got right and which ones they got wrong and if anyone was keeping track. Maybe the so-called expert in question really didn't know what he was talking about at all and got everything wrong. Did they ever admit to being wrong? Probably not.
Well, now there's a website that keeps track of all this from a sports perspective. This site will keep a running tally of people that make these predictions ands statements. I will rely on folks submitting entries to me so I may post them here.
Who knows? Maybe at the end of the year, we'll send off a Yaiab trophy to the person who got the most wrong.
In any event, sit back, read, and enjoy your stay. http://yaiab.com/tinc?key=cTf2zuIN&formname=sportsinfo
